As part of Fantasia International Film Festival<\/span><\/strong><\/a> in Montreal, we had the pleasure of speaking with the director and protagonists of the Latin horror film \u201c In Our Blood\u201d<\/strong> By Brazilian Pedro Kos<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pedro is a renowned documentarian who has even been nominated for Academy Awards. This time, he presents his first fiction film at the Fantasia Festival, accompanied by a stellar cast led by Brittany O\u2019Grady (The White Lotus), E.J. Bonilla (The Exorcist: Believer), and Alanna Ubach (Euphoria).<\/p>\n

What is about?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The film \"In Our Blood\" has as protagonists Emily Wyland (O\u2019Grady) and Danny (Bonilla), a director and cameraman who are on a mission to film a documentary about the reunion between Emily and her mother (Ubach) after 10 years of separation. The thriller begins after they meet, schedule a next appointment for the following day, and this meeting doesn't happen due to the mysterious disappearance of Emily's mother. From there, the two young filmmakers embark on a mission to track her down and search for clues to find her whereabouts, even knowing that she has a history of drug abuse that could be the main theory behind her disappearance.<\/strong> But the story begins to take chilling and terrifying turns, unveiling much deeper secrets than initially thought, especially regarding Emily's relationship with her mother and what the town where she lived during her childhood and adolescence has to reveal.<\/p>\n

The interesting part of the film is is that it blends the documentary genre in a fictionalized manner, giving the director a new creative opportunity by mixing camera and cellphone footage as part of the two young filmmakers' recording.<\/strong> The filmmaker doesn't lose his documentary background and incorporates it into the fiction, which also portrays the outskirts of the United States, as well as the issues of poverty and drugs in the area.<\/p>\n

The Interview<\/strong><\/p>\n

We were able to speak with Pedro Kos, the director, and his protagonists Brittany O\u2019Grady, E.J. Bonilla, and Alanna Ubach in a relaxed interview where we explored the director's interest in this new genre, his motivation to develop the film, the development of the characters with the actors, and the challenge of acting as a cameraman while having to be 100% coordinated with the film's \"real\" cameraman.<\/p>\n
